Noble Queen

Okay so here's a poem I wrote in Sam's point of view from the story A Race Divided

Noble Queen
I have so many lives at stake
And the war we face causes my heart to break.
We've lost so many, I can't deny.
I've tried so hard not to let them see me cry.

Every night it's one step closer.
I try to push it back and fight it,
But my strength is slowly seeping.
I find that I have trouble sleeping.

My troops are standign at the ready
And I've gotten more to stand beside me.
Sworn to protect their sons and daughters,
Nearly lost my life to keep that promise.

Our enemies are just misguided,
This civil war will cause disaster.
They're even killing one another,
And blame it on me to feed the anger.

To sneak into town dressed undercover,
I feel like an outlaw in my own world.
I just want to end the fighting,
But it seems the capability is out of my hands.

With a sigh I turn away.
I've lost control and lost the lives
Of too many now to play it cool.
This must end right now. Tonight.

They want a war, they've made it clear.
I'll have to show them what it is to fear.
