What a Royal Arse

Here's a conversation between Blake and Kira from Modern Day Beauty. I really think this helps put into perspective (if it wasn't in perspective before) what Kira thinks of Blake and how Blake views the world.

**NEED TO KNOW** After Kira befriended the servers, she helped them set the table for the East family and herself. Blake saw this, and that is why he brings it up. Alright, moving on:

No one inquired as to why I'd been serving them breakfast, not even East...until we were in the car.
"What were you doing?" he demanded.
"Helping out," I answered dryly. "Problem?"
He shook his head, "I don't--"
"Get it?" I finished with a short laugh. "It's not an overly difficult concept to grasp."
"What isn't?" he snapped.
"I was helping them because it was the nice thing to do. I didn't force it down their throat either."
"You're a guest, you--" he began, irritation in his voice.
"Yeah, but I wanted to," I snapped. "I wanted to help."
"Why?" he demanded, exasperated.
"They're nice people," I told him flatly.
"We wouldn't have hired them otherwise," he stated.
"You mean if they had a record," I clarified. "I'm talking about them as people."
"So am I," he snapped.
"What are their names?' I demanded.
"What is it with you and names?" he growled.
"You don't even know their names East." I accused. "To you they just work for you, they aren't your equal."
"They aren't equal to me. If they were they wouldn't be cleaning my floor or making my food," he informed me.
I leaned away from him and glared. "You're right," I said finally. "They aren't equal to you. They work for what they have, you just get it handed to you on a silver platter." I couldn't have timed it any better myself. No sooner had the words left my mouth than we were parked. Before he could regain his ability to form words, I was halfway to the school, and I wasn't looking back.

So that's what happened in the car on the way to school. Let me know what you think.

What's Up Buttercup?

Okay so Kira has just moved in with Blake's family and befriended a few of their employees. She idolizes his mother and is looking for a job. She's set her sights on a job as the cashier at her favorite bookstore, Belle's Library. No one is thrilled at the prospect of her living with Blake, least of all her, but she felt it had to be done, and his mom offered. I'll have a sneak peak up shortly.

Cross My Fingers...

Okay so for Modern Day Beauty I'm writing four and a half pages a day so that I can get to 200 by Christmas. So far I'm right on track so keep your fingers crossed.

When the Sun Rises

So Kira Harley and Blake East have a semi-meaningful conversation while watching the sunrise. She says the sunrise means a clean slate, but he points out that she doesn't extend that courtesy to everyone. He's right of course and she gets angry because he is. She can't bring herself to extend him or her mother that same slate because she can't bring herself to let anything hurt her.
I also found out that Kira has no problem with the male population like I originally thought. What she has a problem with is the idea of needing someone after what an effect her mother's leaving had on her father. She's seen the negative effects of caring for someone, and so the reason she appears to dislike men so strongly is because she doesn't want to become as dependent as she feels her father is on her mother.
Kira simply wishes to take care of herself so that she never risks her heart. SURPRISE! Who knew? I certainly didn't...*whispers in a secretive tone* I thought her mom may have had a history with males that led Kira to distrust and dislike...that was not the case.

Head Over Tail

So I wrote the beginning of the Little Mermaid knock off. Here goes:

Driving down the deserted dirt road, radio blasting, brownish-red hair blowing around in the breeze, Ariel Fish was in her element. "Don't you want me baby? Don't you want me, ooooh!"
The rusty old pick-up jerked to a halt and she jumped out, humming happily as she circled the truck and disappeared into the woods surrounding her. It was clear she didn't anticipate anyone else using the road, for she parked in the very middle and was gone for fifteen minutes.
When she came back, she was holding a picnic basket and blanket which she tossed into the bed of the truck before getting in herself and taking off. An hour later she was out of the woods, pulling up to the beach. Again, hopping out of the car, she grabbed the blanket and strolled towards the empty beach with a relaxed smile.
Once she'd settled, seated on the blanket and staring dreamily at the water, her phone rang. "Hey dad," she sighed. "Nope, nowhere near the ocean...yeah a real threat...right...mmhmm...on my way...love you too...yeah, I'll see you soon. Bye." The call ended and she fell back onto the blanket with a sigh. "What I wouldn't give..." Ariel closed her eyes, breathing in the salty air. "To see what's at the bottom."
The waves lapped at the sand rythmatically, lulling her into a sort of half-sleep. "
You're wish" something whispered, voice full of malice, "my command." A splash disrupted the pattern, and Ariel shot up to squint out at the water. Aside from a boulder out in the water, she couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. With a careless shrug, she got up and pulled her things together.
"Until next time," she laughed, "my
lovely Pacific." With a child-like wave, she left the beach, not catching the eyes that watched her.
"It'll be sooner than you think," came a malicious whisper in the wind. "And your Pacific won't be as lovely as you thought."

So the prologue is clearly in third-person, however, the rest will be in first-person. I think it'll be nice to tell these stories in the view of the 'princesses'. Comment your opinion.
