Dream a little dream...

Had a dream the other night, and I'm pretty sure that I need to attempt  story there...just don't know how. Here's the story idea;

Main character is a succubus. She has a sister, a brother, two parents. In the beginning she's nearly caught with another succubus sucking the souls out of two boys. She runs back to her family who puts her into hiding until it all blows over. She gets antsy and sneaks out, meets another succubus and her son who she helps get to an alternate universe, but then she goes back to find her sister...

That's all I've got. I don't know if I actually want to do that story, but that was essentially the dream.

Latin Words with Meaning

So after reading a few stories that I got away from a few years ago due to the urge they gave me (to write something like them) that I didn't feel capable of handling at the time, I've decided to conquer the urge. Well okay, so this is more like me ever so slowly taking baby steps towards following the urge. At first it was flat out refusal, and then it was 'Well what could I call them that would be different?' I still maintain that I don't want to do this sort of story, I'd be no good at it and it'd be too close to what I read that I wouldn't consider it original.
I keep saying that but I am desperately playing around with plot ideas and character alterations that I could do to make it my own thing.

So think of this; A world of humans and these Sagas (Latin for witch). Sagas are a type of being that live twice as long as humans and have hundreds of different sub-species. The main character is a fox-saga.

The prologue has to do with her being in love with a wolf-saga. As many people forced to take science will tell you, wolves are creatures who live in packs and who protect their cubs as one, but foxes are more anti-social. The wolf-saga she falls in love with is killed when his village is attacked. She had been there, an outsider, helping to protect the children with other wolf-sagas, but everyone but her and a few children survive.
After taking the children to a nearby wolf-saga village, she spends the next couple of years protecting the mass grave site of the village from grave robbers.

I haven't gotten farther than that, so I don't know why she leaves the village yet, but I'm working on it. More news to come.

Wearing the Pants

So I started a few more stories (God help us all) and one of them is titled 'Wearing the Pants'. I think this story is going to be funny.

The main character works in a fast food place where she is constantly fighting with a co-worker. One night he kisses her and decided that he likes it, but she wants nothing to do with him and so the challenges are issued. She says there's no way he'd ever win her heart, and he says that when he does there's no way she can make him want to stay.
Pissed that he doesn't believe she can hold his interest, she enters the challenge, knowing right off the bat that neither of them were going to win this one. She mentions fleetingly that it's going to be sad, but pride won't let him win, and therefore she jumps in. Both of them find themselves fighting for control of the relationship that they find is budding.

What do you think? Leave me some comments, will you?

Of The Month...

So clearly that wasn't working all that well for me, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvience. I will alter that a bit in hopes that an alteration will help me stay on task. Instead of having a story of the month, short story of the month, and book of the month every month, I'll just have one every month. So this month...well I'll let you know once I decide for sure.

My Brother's Tutor

I started a new story I'd been wanting to write for a couple of years now called My Brother's Tutor. It's about a girl, MacKayla, who is searching for something to fill in the 'missing link' as she calls it. In her search, she decides it must be family connections, so she decided to take her brother on a road trip, however, he's been getting into some trouble with grades so her parents are having him tutored over the summer in Science and refuse to let him go.
Finally, she gets them to agree on the condition that his tutor comes along as well. She could not think of a worse punishment.
Basically, they go on vacation for a month or so because she's trying to 'find herself'. She wants to gather up all the pieces and put them together. This is one of many attempts to achieve that.

Noble Queen

Okay so here's a poem I wrote in Sam's point of view from the story A Race Divided

Noble Queen
I have so many lives at stake
And the war we face causes my heart to break.
We've lost so many, I can't deny.
I've tried so hard not to let them see me cry.

Every night it's one step closer.
I try to push it back and fight it,
But my strength is slowly seeping.
I find that I have trouble sleeping.

My troops are standign at the ready
And I've gotten more to stand beside me.
Sworn to protect their sons and daughters,
Nearly lost my life to keep that promise.

Our enemies are just misguided,
This civil war will cause disaster.
They're even killing one another,
And blame it on me to feed the anger.

To sneak into town dressed undercover,
I feel like an outlaw in my own world.
I just want to end the fighting,
But it seems the capability is out of my hands.

With a sigh I turn away.
I've lost control and lost the lives
Of too many now to play it cool.
This must end right now. Tonight.

They want a war, they've made it clear.
I'll have to show them what it is to fear.

Debbie Pepper's Song

So I have a friend, Debbie Peppers recently asked me to write her a story based on a song she's always wanted to see written out. The song's called 'Angie Baby' by Helen Reddy. I have nothing from the story, but here are the lyrics to the song I'm trying to base this story off of;

You live your life in the songs you hear
on the rock and roll radio
and when a young girl doesn't have any friends
thats a really nice place to go
folks hoping you'd turn out cool
but they had to take you out of school
you're a little touched you know
angie baby

lovers appear in your room each night
and they whirl you across the floor
but they always seem to fade away
when your daddy taps on your door
angie girl are you alright?
tell the radio goodnight
all alone once more angie baby

Chorus
angie baby
you're a special lady
living in a world of make believe
well maybe

stopping at her house is a neighbour boy
with evil on his mind
cos he's been peeking in angie's room
at the night through her window blind
I see your folks have gone away
would you dance with me today
I'll show you how to have a good time
angie baby

( angie baby ) (angie baby )

when he walks in the room
he feels confused
like he walked into a play
and the music's so loud
it spins him around
till his soul has lost it's way
and as she turns the volume down
he's getting smaller with the sound
it seems to pull him off the ground
toward the radio he's bound
never to be found

the headlines read that a boy disapeared
and everyone thinks he died
except a crazy girl with a secret lover
who keeps her satisfied
it's so nice to be insane
no one asked you to explain
radio by your side
angie baby

Chorus
angie baby
you're a special lady
living in a world of make believe
well maybe
well maybe
well maybe

well maybe

Parked Cars

So I had to write a poem for class, my friend asked me to post it on here. It's about our friends and graduation. Here goes...I'm no poet so bare with me.

Parked Cars
Not apart
But not together
We'll move away
And stay close
We stuck together
Through it all
Now we're grown
Moving on
One goes to write
One goes to draw
One studies stars
One studies law
One wants to teach
A class of kids
One wants to teach
The musicians
We won't forget
The funny jokes
Of parked cars
And favorite thefts
Fearing these next few months
Anxious to grow up
Torn between thirsts for knowledge
And the friends we leave
No one said it was easy
We'll meet new people
No longer together
But never alone

January's Story of the Month

Story of the month is Painful Reminders. As I'm fond of all my stories, it's not hard to believe that I like it, but it's one of my favorite. See, a couple of years back I was reading quite a few vampire books (I still read them now, but I've cooled down), and as expected, I usually write about what's in my life. So when I was vampire obsessed, I started quite a few stories about...well vampires. This one was just recently finished...or well, the rough draft was.
So let me try to give you the summary, huh?

Amaya Night grew up living with her grandfather, her only living relative. He was always telling her stories about a war centuries ago between werewolves and vampires, and though she had her doubts, he believed them completely. When her grandfather dies of a heart attack, she's left all alone in the world and she goes from Party Queen to anti-social in a matter of seconds. Then her best friend is nearly killed by a vampire, and in her attempt to save her friend, she's kidnapped.
She finds herself neck deep in a war between to races that she never even believed in, and she's the only one who stands a chance at stopping this war once and for all. Amaya quickly makes enemies with a vampire leader by the name of Carson. He is constantly forced to chase after her himself because no one can seem to keep her from disappearing and nearly getting herself killed.
The very first night she stays there, she begins to dream about the past, hundreds of years prior to then when the first vampire and werewolf became what they were. Using this knowledge, she seeks the oldest werewolf in an attempt to help reconcile the differences between the two creatures.
Carson has a great deal of trouble keeping this very human woman alive when all she refuses to fear death itself.

Basically, this is a story about a girl who must break a curse, start to live her life, and learn that just because you can't see something, doesn't mean it's not there. If you're into humorous tales of adventures, it's the story for you.

January's Book of the Month

First to Die by James Patterson is the first book in his Women's Murder Club series. It centers around a group of women trying to solve a case together. The case is actually multiple cases of murdered newly weds. If you're fond of murder mysteries, this is a great book for you. There is a slight romantic thing going on between one of the women and her partner (she's a cop), but it's not really a romance at all. I give this book four stars out of five. Comment on your opinion of the book!

When A Writer Gets Bored

Okay so I got bored and wrote out a few more random titles. My World and Everything In It, When Barbie Doesn't Cut It, and Outside the Box. Here are the summaries I'm thinking about...they are most definitely subject to change...

Outside the Box
She considered her self just as creative as the best of them. At times, she even bragged about the vastness of her imagination. She just never thought she'd have to prove it.

**Okay so what happens is she somehow gets into another world that is kind of way beyond anything she ever would've imagined, and she's expected to help them through it in order to get back home...or something along those lines. I'm not exactly sure.**

When Barbie Doesn't Cut It
She was never willing to fit the mold, but she never really stood out either...until one misplaced comment leads to an argument that leads to all out war. Now she's not only different and standing out, she's got all eyes on her. This time they'll learn that plastic isn't as sturdy as the real deal, and she has no problem breaking a few shells to prove it.

**She gets into an argument with a popular girl who then begins to single her out for ridicule. Instead of taking it, she starts fighting back and it's open war. Her goal is to ruin the face facades, and it's causing chaos everywhere.**

My World and Everything In It
So she's always been more interested in her own little world than the world around her, but when she lands smack dab in the middle of her wildest dreams, she'll be hard pressed not to pay better attention. One false move and it could be her last.

**This one I'm kind of playing with a bit. She could end up in some kind of weird 'other' world (which is what I'm leaning towards) or she could kind of have something from her daydreams come true, sort of waking her up. I think maybe she gets sucked into an almost 'Alice in Wonderland' type thing...I'll have to mess with it a bit though.

The Halfway Point

Okay so I am currently at 156 for Modern Day Beauty. It's now officially in Blake's point of view, and we learn almost immediately that some of Kira's suspicions are true...he hasn't changed as much as he would like us to believe. I'm not saying he's still an ass, but...okay well he's still an ass. He's changing though, he even bought her a bookshelf! That's awesome for a bookworm like Kira.
Anyway, I'll have an excerpt up soon, I just want to try and get some other stuff done too.
Also, three new story titles I came up with...now I just have to come up with a plot...They would be, Missing You Terribly, Does It Help?, aaaaand The Other Side of Nothing

Two Halves Make a Whole

Okay so I'm currently at 133 pages on Modern Day Beauty and dear Blake is showing some real (if slight) progress. Now this is nearing, if not passed the halfway point. They are currently at the week before Christmas. Christmas night will be the last day that Kira has center stage. After that, I'm going to attempt to write the rest of the story in Blake's point of view. It'll be a challenge seeing as I'm not all that familar with the way his mind works, but I think I'll catch on quickly and finish it with a bang.
I feel that in order to really see the changes made by Blake, we should get into his head so we can see it for ourselves. Otherwise we're only watching and seeing it from Kira's (let's be honest here) bias point of view. She doesn't have much faith in people changing, and her words and feelings of distrust can't be allowed to alter our overall judgement. It wouldn't be fair to the poor boy. With this in mind, I feel that the rest of the story will be much better off in his point of view. We'll see how it goes.

Story of the Month (Mom's Post)

So this month's story if one that has a bit of a background. A story behind the story if you will, so bare with me. This month's story is Love at Night. I haven't written much for it yet, I kind of started it and moved onto something else.
Love at Night is the first in a series of three that I plan on writing about a woman named Kaitlyn Swan. Kaitlyn Swan, as anyone familiar with Samantha Burton's series will know, is from a different series of mine that is almost finished. In order to understand, I have to tell you about the first series she starred (as a minor major character) in.
Sam's series is a series about a girl who is a half-vampire, a witch and Queen of the Vampires. When I first started her story, I had just had an argument with my mother and so I created her mother as a mom who cared nothing for her child, left her to fend for herself, lied to her, and was just a horrible person. I then proceeded to walk into the kitchen and read the beginning of my story out loud to my mom and her boyfriend. It was the last time I ever read any of my stories to my mother.
Mom knew who Sam's mother was supposed to be, and I don't know if that hurt her feelings, but I felt like the worst person ever. It had already been done of course, but I tried to make Kaitlyn more understandable and show everyone that she was good and she did care about her daughter. She redeemed herself, but she could never quite get it right. No one but me was remotely fond of her. At a loss, I couldn't figure out what else I could do. Sam's stories are some of my favorites. I have always admired my characters, but Sam always seemed to overcome so much, and she's in a series of four.
Then it came to me, I could write a series about Kaitlyn! It would be about how she became who she is and why. I figured if nothing else could make everyone like her, understanding her past would. So I started writing the first story in the series, and I have high hopes for it. The series (if ever published) will be dedicated to my mom.
To mom because even though she seemed like the bad guy a vast majority of the time, it turns out I just had to see it from her shoes.
My mom's opinion of my stories used to be all I ever wanted to know, but then I stopped sharing them with her. I miss her opinions, and I hope that someday she'll give them to me again because what she thinks means more than what anyone else's thoughts ever did.

Book of the Month Is...(Dun Du Du Dun)

Okay so this month's book is Knock Off by Rhonda Pollero. The book is the first in a serious about a paralegal named Finley. If you're into mysteries and shopping, you'll really like the book. The main character is kind of a shop-a-holic, a turn off to me since I'm not much of a shopper, however this book is really good. For more information, check out her website; http://www.rhondapollero.com/ Anyone who has read the book, leave a comment and tell us what you think.
I give it 3 stars. It was entertaining and really funny, but like I said, I'm not much of a shopper so the shopping stuff was just a love I don't understand.

Monthly Side Story

Okay so I've decided to try and write a side story to one of my stories on here. There will also be a book of the month and story of the month. They will come later. This month's side story is from Modern Day Beauty (surprise surprise). I'm going to tell you how Kira met her friend Sean.

That's What She Said

Freshman debate class was the stupidest class I have ever had the misfortune to get stuck in. No one took the debates seriously and the ones that did were seriously disappointed at the lack of effort put forth by others. I was one of the few that took it seriously. Kira Harley, the mistress of debates. That's what they called me when I continuously slaughtered the competition. On the last debate of the semester we did one on one. It was Sean Harvey against me. Should girls be forced to wear skirts as uniforms in this modern day and age? He was for and I was against.
"Forcing girls to wear skirts as part of their school uniform is no longer acceptable," I stated right off the bat. "To say that they are equal to males and then go on to make them wear uniforms where pants are not an option is a violation of their rights."
"So you're saying girls should be allowed to wear pants or skirts, but what about guys then? What if a guy prefers a skirt to pants?" Sean countered.
I shrugged, "If a guy wants to wear a skirt, that's his deal. I'm saying if girls and guys are equal then they should be treated as equal."
"It's not socially acceptable for guys to wear skirts. If they only have one choice--pants--then it's only fair for girls to have one choice--skirts."
"If there's only one choice, make everyone wear pants. Guys get pants to cover their legs more securely and keep them more warm while girls must wear skirts. Do you know how difficult it is to keep a skirt down when you're running or the wind is blowing? Males and females should be treated the exact same way when it comes to uniforms, if one of them gets to wear pants, the other should be allowed too."
"Women belong in skirts, they've worn skirts and dresses for centuries. Only in recent decades have they begun wearing shorts and pants."
"So you're saying because of what they wore in the past, they shouldn't be given more freedom int the future?" I snapped, getting irritated. "Do you really believe they should be forced to wear skirts?"
He leaned back and smiled at me cockilly. "I believe that girls look better in skirts than guys do. The shorter the better so my vote is, let the past trends continue."
My eyes narrowed, "That's the stupidest reasoning I've ever heard."
"Hey baby," someone called from the back, "you'd look smoking in a skirt!"
"Yeah," I replied, looking right at the guy who'd been stupid enough to open his mouth. "And you'd look smoking with a black eye."
"Alright," broke in the teacher, alarm in his voice. "Quiet down now class, I think this debate is over. Isn't it?" he snapped looking at me.
"We never came to voted conclusion," I pointed out. Fortunately for the teacher, the bell rang and everyone rushed out. Sending one last glare at Sean, I walked over to my desk and gathered my stuff.
"Hey babe," whispered the obnoxious guy from before, leaning in close and grabbing my waist. The teacher had rushed out with the rest of the class so there was no help from the authority, "what do you say you and I go find a closet?"
"I say get your hands off if you want to keep them," I snapped, freezing in place. He stepped closer with a cocky laugh and his grip tightened. "I said get them off."
"Relax sweetheart," he breathed. "I just want--"
In seconds he was gone, and I spun around to see him on the ground, his mouth and nose bleeding. "I believe she said hands off Doug," Sean stated, glaring down at him. "So next time why don't we try to listen better?"
We both started out of the classroom silently. "Listen, I didn't need any help," I told him. "But...thanks, I appreciate it."
"No problem, I figure that puts me one step closer to getting you to go to dinner with me."
"Not a chance," I laughed.
He shrugged, "Lunch then."
And that is how Sean Harvey and I met.

What a Royal Arse

Here's a conversation between Blake and Kira from Modern Day Beauty. I really think this helps put into perspective (if it wasn't in perspective before) what Kira thinks of Blake and how Blake views the world.

**NEED TO KNOW** After Kira befriended the servers, she helped them set the table for the East family and herself. Blake saw this, and that is why he brings it up. Alright, moving on:

No one inquired as to why I'd been serving them breakfast, not even East...until we were in the car.
"What were you doing?" he demanded.
"Helping out," I answered dryly. "Problem?"
He shook his head, "I don't--"
"Get it?" I finished with a short laugh. "It's not an overly difficult concept to grasp."
"What isn't?" he snapped.
"I was helping them because it was the nice thing to do. I didn't force it down their throat either."
"You're a guest, you--" he began, irritation in his voice.
"Yeah, but I wanted to," I snapped. "I wanted to help."
"Why?" he demanded, exasperated.
"They're nice people," I told him flatly.
"We wouldn't have hired them otherwise," he stated.
"You mean if they had a record," I clarified. "I'm talking about them as people."
"So am I," he snapped.
"What are their names?' I demanded.
"What is it with you and names?" he growled.
"You don't even know their names East." I accused. "To you they just work for you, they aren't your equal."
"They aren't equal to me. If they were they wouldn't be cleaning my floor or making my food," he informed me.
I leaned away from him and glared. "You're right," I said finally. "They aren't equal to you. They work for what they have, you just get it handed to you on a silver platter." I couldn't have timed it any better myself. No sooner had the words left my mouth than we were parked. Before he could regain his ability to form words, I was halfway to the school, and I wasn't looking back.

So that's what happened in the car on the way to school. Let me know what you think.

What's Up Buttercup?

Okay so Kira has just moved in with Blake's family and befriended a few of their employees. She idolizes his mother and is looking for a job. She's set her sights on a job as the cashier at her favorite bookstore, Belle's Library. No one is thrilled at the prospect of her living with Blake, least of all her, but she felt it had to be done, and his mom offered. I'll have a sneak peak up shortly.

Cross My Fingers...

Okay so for Modern Day Beauty I'm writing four and a half pages a day so that I can get to 200 by Christmas. So far I'm right on track so keep your fingers crossed.

When the Sun Rises

So Kira Harley and Blake East have a semi-meaningful conversation while watching the sunrise. She says the sunrise means a clean slate, but he points out that she doesn't extend that courtesy to everyone. He's right of course and she gets angry because he is. She can't bring herself to extend him or her mother that same slate because she can't bring herself to let anything hurt her.
I also found out that Kira has no problem with the male population like I originally thought. What she has a problem with is the idea of needing someone after what an effect her mother's leaving had on her father. She's seen the negative effects of caring for someone, and so the reason she appears to dislike men so strongly is because she doesn't want to become as dependent as she feels her father is on her mother.
Kira simply wishes to take care of herself so that she never risks her heart. SURPRISE! Who knew? I certainly didn't...*whispers in a secretive tone* I thought her mom may have had a history with males that led Kira to distrust and dislike...that was not the case.
