January's Story of the Month

Story of the month is Painful Reminders. As I'm fond of all my stories, it's not hard to believe that I like it, but it's one of my favorite. See, a couple of years back I was reading quite a few vampire books (I still read them now, but I've cooled down), and as expected, I usually write about what's in my life. So when I was vampire obsessed, I started quite a few stories about...well vampires. This one was just recently finished...or well, the rough draft was.
So let me try to give you the summary, huh?

Amaya Night grew up living with her grandfather, her only living relative. He was always telling her stories about a war centuries ago between werewolves and vampires, and though she had her doubts, he believed them completely. When her grandfather dies of a heart attack, she's left all alone in the world and she goes from Party Queen to anti-social in a matter of seconds. Then her best friend is nearly killed by a vampire, and in her attempt to save her friend, she's kidnapped.
She finds herself neck deep in a war between to races that she never even believed in, and she's the only one who stands a chance at stopping this war once and for all. Amaya quickly makes enemies with a vampire leader by the name of Carson. He is constantly forced to chase after her himself because no one can seem to keep her from disappearing and nearly getting herself killed.
The very first night she stays there, she begins to dream about the past, hundreds of years prior to then when the first vampire and werewolf became what they were. Using this knowledge, she seeks the oldest werewolf in an attempt to help reconcile the differences between the two creatures.
Carson has a great deal of trouble keeping this very human woman alive when all she refuses to fear death itself.

Basically, this is a story about a girl who must break a curse, start to live her life, and learn that just because you can't see something, doesn't mean it's not there. If you're into humorous tales of adventures, it's the story for you.
