When the Sun Rises

So Kira Harley and Blake East have a semi-meaningful conversation while watching the sunrise. She says the sunrise means a clean slate, but he points out that she doesn't extend that courtesy to everyone. He's right of course and she gets angry because he is. She can't bring herself to extend him or her mother that same slate because she can't bring herself to let anything hurt her.
I also found out that Kira has no problem with the male population like I originally thought. What she has a problem with is the idea of needing someone after what an effect her mother's leaving had on her father. She's seen the negative effects of caring for someone, and so the reason she appears to dislike men so strongly is because she doesn't want to become as dependent as she feels her father is on her mother.
Kira simply wishes to take care of herself so that she never risks her heart. SURPRISE! Who knew? I certainly didn't...*whispers in a secretive tone* I thought her mom may have had a history with males that led Kira to distrust and dislike...that was not the case.
